ESI Collection & Analysis
Michael Hagen has over 25 year’s litigation experience both as a litigation paralegal and litigation technology expert. Mr. Hagen currently serves on Procopio’s Technology and Risk Management Committees. He has served as an ESI liaison for several multi-million dollar matters and has managed well over 20 terabytes of information.
In 1994, Mike was offered an opportunity to join the trial graphics team for the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill trial and served as a trial graphics / paralegal liaison assisting the Exxon trial team in the Federal and State court trials held in Anchorage, Alaska.
In 2002, Mr. Hagen joined Procopio Cory Hargreaves, & Savitch in San Diego, California where he continued his work as a civil litigation paralegal and began developing a more robust litigation support department for the firm. As the need to adapt to the changing role technology played in litigation, Mr. Hagen continued to expand his role with an emphasis on computerized litigation support. For the past several years, Mr. Hagen has developed and managed a full service ESI (Electronically Stored Information) department within Procopio. The Procopio ESI Department handles many aspects of e-Discovery including ESI collection, processing, review, production, post-production review analysis, and trial presentation. Mr. Hagen has researched and written several papers and made presentations on emerging trends in ESI case law and advanced litigation support technologies. His experience and continuing education in this field includes developing proficiencies with Relativity (including predictive coding technology), Encase Forensics, Case Map, Text Map, Trial Director, Excel, Ipro’s Ecapture, Escanit, and Allegro software suite, Quickbooks, and a host of other PC and Mac applications.
